How Much Do You Want For Them?

Shared from a .pps sent to me.

One day, Jesus and Satan had a conversation, and Jesus asked Satan what he was doing with the people here in the world…

Satan responded:  They are entertaining me:  I am teaching them to kill; to hate one another; to abuse children; showing the youth how to use drugs; to drink; to lie and to do everything prohibited.  I am amusing myself very much.

Jesus asked:  And after, what are you going to do with them?

After … I am going to finish them all.

Jesus asked:  How much do you want for them?

Satan replied:  Why are you going to love these people?  They are treacherous, lying, false, egotistic and covetous!  They will never really love you, they are going to blaspheme and spit in your face, they are going to despise you, and they will not consider you at all.

How much do you want for them, Satan?

I want all your tears and your blood.

OK, done deal … and Jesus paid the price of our salvation.

How do we forget Jesus?

We Believe everything the world shows us, but we question everything that comes from Him …

People send jokes through e-mail … sending them to each other instantly.
But, when the e-mail is about Jesus, people think about it twice before sending it to others.  Most of them never send it at all.

Everyone says they want to be with GOD someday.
A lot of us say:  I believe in Jesus … but, what do we do for him.

To speak of Jesus is not a matter that the people want to hear … they only come to Jesus when they are in big trouble.

Mark 8:38    “If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, The Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the Holy Angels.”

Common (Dis)courtesy… A Rant.

Some people (not all) with cell phones still haven’t gotten the message that talking on your phone while driving is dangerous and illegal, unless you have a “hands free” device such as a Blue Tooth.

Even WITH a hands free device it’s still just as dangerous.  The danger lies in the distraction.  Most people seem to have difficulty walking and chewing gum at the same time.  Driving and talking on the phone is completely out of the question.

Scenario 1:  You’re traveling down the freeway at 65MPH in the #1 (left) lane.  All the traffic around you is, basically, going at the same speed.  Suddenly the cars ahead of you are frantically hitting their brakes and changing lanes.  Then you see it.  A car going 50 MPH, weaving in the lane and slowing, for no apparent reason!  As you follow the other cars to the #2 lane to go around this person of obviously limited intelligence and questionable ancestry, you see that the he has a cell phone growing out of one ear.  The roots from that phone must go very deep because he doesn’t seem able to remove it.  The driver, I use the term loosely,  is oblivious to the rest of the world, especially the traffic around him.
THIS IS AN ACCIDENT LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN.
Unfortunately, it probably won’t be just the one car involved in it.

Scenario 2:  You’re sitting several cars back at a red traffic light.  The light changes to green and the first car crosses the intersection.  The second car just sits there until the light turns yellow, then zooms through the intersection just as the light turns red and traps everyone else.  A person on the sidewalk waiting to cross the street informs you that driver didn’t move because she was texting on her phone.  Ahr r r r r r r r !!!

Good manners and common courtesy also seem to be falling victim to this technology.

Scenario 1:  You go to a restaurant to have a nice quiet dinner and glass of wine with your spouse, significant other, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc.  You are seated.  The server brings the wine list and menus.  You are served your wine and order your entrees.
Suddenly, one of the people at the next table starts having a loud conversation, seemingly with thin air.  “Hi.”  “How are you?”  “Haven’t talked to you since … seems like forever.”  “Tell me what’s going on in your life.”  The cell phone strikes , again.
You realize that your nice quiet dinner isn’t going to be so “quiet”!  What can this person be thinking.  It’s rude and inconsiderate to intrude on the conversations of the other diners.  And YES it IS an intrusion.  It’s also an insult to his dinner date.  This person is, in essence, saying:  “This phone call is more important than the time I’m spending with you.”
Restaurants should be like concerts and movies.  Turn off all cell phones and pagers when entering.  If you’re expecting an important call, let your dinner date know and put your phone on vibrate.  When your phone gives you a buzz, excuse yourself and go outside to talk.  Don’t come back in until you’ve hit the “end” button.

Scenario 2:   You’re manning the reception desk at your work place.  A “customer” walks in.
She looks like the Hunchback described in the book.  The appearance of a “hump” is due to the cell phone trapped between ear and shoulder.
This person can’t hang up or even put the phone down long enough to transact business.  Some of these people don’t even appear to be taking time to breathe.  AND YET, they expect you to devote your full attention to them, ignoring the customers behind them, and decipher what they need by reading their own version of sign language (hand signals).  They get very indignant when you aren’t intuitive enough to just KNOW what they need.
What is with the people who seem to think the entire world is interested in their conversations?  You know who I mean.  They’re the ones who insist on using the “speaker” or “walkie-talkie” option on their phone … AT FULL VOLUME.

It seems like ego and bad manners go hand-in-hand with arrogance and ignorance.

Lets all try to show our fellow inhabitants of this tiny speck of dust at least a small amount of courtesy and respect.
I PROMISE TO TRY!  WILL YOU?

Life, Me And ...

My better half of 42 years is a school librarian.  If I have any questions about books, authors, movies, music, etc., I ask her.  If she doesn’t know, she finds out.  She knows the Dewey Decimal System.  I’m lucky to be able to find a fiction author using the alphabet.  I’m completely dependent on her knowledge and her ability to find information on the internet.  She is awsome.

The #1 job of a bureaucrat is:  protect the bureaucracy … at all cost.  Especially if that cost is paid by the tax payers.

What’s the difference between the U S Congress and the Boy Scouts of America?
The Boy Scouts have adult supervision.

When I started this blog, I didn’t expect to be doing so much introspection.  I find myself analyzing myself! …………………………… Did I say that right?

I find myself using the “Ego” words (ie. “I”, “My”, “Me”, “Myself”, etc.) a lot.  Then I remember the name of this blog.

I’ve begun to doubt that I was a good parent.  We had three boys.  Each has his own personality.  I’m proud of them all.
Each seems to live in his own world and now and then gets to sign in on a “Visitor’s Pass”. <G>
I have never dealt well with children.  Sometimes I’m surprised God allowed me the priviledge of having them.
Don’t misunderstand me … I’m not fishing for denial, pity or forgiveness.  The past is what it is.  I do have regrets, I think we all have some of those lurking about, but, we can’t change the past and I’m not sure it would be a good idea to do it if we could.

Back to the subject, I’m sure sometimes, maybe a lot of times, I expected too much of our boys.  I was selfish and wanted them to grow up quickly so I could enjoy them.  This put a very heavy load on my wife, which she carried extremely well.  Our children couldn’t have wished for a better mother.
Children have to learn to be children before they can be expected to grasp the many facets of being an adult.  I guess I spent a lot of time and energy figuring out how to “earn a living” and “provide for my family.”  Some, or a lot, of that probably would have been better spent “enjoying my family.”
Like I said:  “The past is what it is”.  All we can hope for is to learn from our mistakes and not keep remaking too many of them.

I’m not sure it’s just children I don’t tolerate very well.  It might be people in general.  I think most dogs are better people than most people and the more dogs I meet the less I like people.
Maybe it’s just not in my nature to like, or trust, the vast majority of humans.  When the protests started in Cairo, I thought:  ‘This peaceful protest is going to turn into a riot.’  Sure enough, it did.  Complete with looting, burning and killing.  When you fill the pot full and keep stiring, it’s bound to boil over.

To misquote an old PP&M song lyric:  “Where ever two or more of them are gathered, it’s insane.
Where’s the love … Where’s the love”.

I’m beginning to wonder if this is a blog or a book.  Maybe I should let it end somewhere in between.
More later.
